Placencia will always be one of my favourite places — we first visited in April 2024, got married at Caribbean Beach Cabanas in March 2026, and I still cannot rave enough about it.
Placencia is known for its famously narrow pedestrian sidewalk, which runs through the heart of the village. It is still one of my favourite places to wander — popping into Art n Soul Gallery, grabbing a drink at Barefoot Bar, browsing little shops filled with locally made gifts, art, and souvenirs, plus beach air and village life at a slower pace.

Can you swim at the beaches in Placencia?
Yes. Placencia has swim-friendly stretches of beach, and many travellers spend mornings in the water right from shore. Water conditions can vary by spot and season — I can help you choose stays with the beach feel you want.
How many days should I stay in Placencia?
Most travellers are happiest with 4–7 nights. That gives you beach time plus a couple of excursions without rushing. Longer stays are lovely if you want inland day trips or a slower Belize honeymoon itinerary with room to do nothing.
Do I need a rental car in Placencia?
Not usually — not if your trip is centred on the village, beaches, and boat excursions. A car becomes more useful if you want to self-drive to multiple mainland destinations.
Is Placencia good for families?
