Spain Trip Ideas & Inspiration

Spain overview

These are ways to shape a trip, not fixed packages. High-speed trains link Madrid with Barcelona and Seville in roughly two and a half hours each, so two or three bases work well. Tell me how you like to travel and I’ll adjust the days.

Ways to spend the time

  1. 8–10 nights: Madrid and Barcelona — Four nights in Madrid and four or five in Barcelona, with the high-speed train between them and a day trip to Toledo or Montserrat.
  2. 10–12 nights: Madrid and Andalusia — Madrid, then the fast train south to Seville, with Córdoba and Granada for the Alhambra.
  3. 12–14 nights: The classic loop — Barcelona, Madrid and Andalusia in one trip, flying home from Seville or Málaga to avoid backtracking.
  4. Add a country: Spain plus Portugal — Seville and Madrid pair well with Lisbon or Porto, by a short flight or a scenic drive. Portugal planning
