Jamaica Trip Ideas & Inspiration
These are ways to shape a trip, not fixed packages. Most weeks work best with one or two bases and well-chosen excursions. Tell me who is travelling and I’ll adjust the days.
Ways to spend the time
- 7 nights: One coast, one resort — Negril for the beach, Montego Bay for the shortest transfer, or Ocho Rios for excursions — then a couple of guided days out.
- 10 nights: Negril and the north coast — Five nights in Negril, then five around Ocho Rios or Runaway Bay. The transfer between them takes about three hours, so it is a planned travel day.
- 7–10 nights: Port Antonio and Kingston — Fly into Kingston, spend a night or two for music, food and a Blue Mountains coffee day, then continue to Port Antonio for a quieter, greener stay.
Is Jamaica right for this trip?
A good match if
- You want an all-inclusive with plenty of excursion options
- Music, food and big personality are part of the appeal
- You want waterfalls and rivers as well as beach days
- A lively, social beach scene like Negril’s sounds like your kind of week
Maybe look elsewhere if
- You want to wander freely after dark outside resort areas
- You prefer a small island you can see in a day — Barbados may suit better
- You need every resort and attraction at full strength right now, while recovery continues
Keep planning
- Things to See & Do — Coasts, waterfalls, Kingston and the south
- When to Go & Travel Tips — Seasons, recovery, airports and getting around
