United Kingdom Trip Ideas & Inspiration
These are ways to shape a trip, not fixed packages. One direction of travel, with the flight home from the end of the line, keeps the route efficient. Tell me how you like to travel and I’ll adjust the days.
Ways to spend the time
- 7–8 nights: London and Edinburgh — Four nights in London, the train north, and three or four in Edinburgh, flying home from Edinburgh where the schedule allows.
- 10–12 nights: London, Edinburgh and Glasgow — Four nights in London, three in Edinburgh and two or three in Glasgow, with a guided Highlands day from either Scottish city.
- Overnight: The Caledonian Sleeper — An overnight train from London Euston to Edinburgh and Glasgow, running most nights of the week except Saturdays. It saves a hotel night and arrives with the day ahead of you.
- Add a country: The UK plus France or Belgium — Eurostar runs from London St Pancras to Paris in about 2 hours 15 minutes and to Brussels in about two hours. Leave time for passport checks before boarding. France planning Belgium planning
