A Cruise That Feels Like Your Kind of Escape
Cruise planning with a Canadian travel agent — help choosing a cruise, from river and small-ship cruises to Caribbean cruises and cruises in Europe and beyond.
A cruise can be a lovely way to see a few places without repacking every other day. I help you choose one that fits how you like to travel — the itinerary and ports, the ship and cabin, the time ashore, and any nights before or after you sail. I’m Heather, a Canadian travel agent and advisor based in Ottawa. I plan the trip and book it.

Cruising isn’t one-size-fits-all. You might picture a large ship with lots to do, or prefer a smaller, more intimate experience. From peaceful river journeys to coastal voyages and expedition cruises, there are many ways to explore by water. I’ll help you find the kind of cruise that feels right for you.
Tell me your interests, comfort level, pace, budget, and travel style. Cruise planning with a Canadian travel agent can start before you have a ship in mind, if you’d like help choosing a cruise. I research and book through my travel partners, and I’ll only suggest sailings I can actually arrange.
From large ships with a wide range of dining and entertainment to smaller ships that visit less-crowded ports. The ship’s size changes how busy the days feel.
Smaller, intimate journeys along rivers, often with convenient access to the towns and cities along the route. A good fit when you want time in places, not only at sea.
Small-ship cruises are a more intimate way to explore coastlines, islands, and smaller ports.
Voyages focused on remote places, wildlife, and nature, often with guided excursions. The days are built around being outdoors.
Premium service, dining, accommodation, and onboard experiences, for travellers who want that level of comfort.
Smaller-scale journeys that can offer a more relaxed or personal atmosphere.
Options with activities and facilities suited to families travelling together.
Options designed for adults seeking a quieter or more grown-up onboard atmosphere.
Sailings centred on interests such as food, music, wellness, or cultural experiences.
Extended itineraries for travellers who want to spend more time at sea and visit multiple regions. These ask for more time, and sometimes a wider budget.
Cruises travel well beyond the Caribbean. Caribbean cruises are one familiar option. Depending on current itineraries and what I can book through my travel partners, examples may include Alaska, Europe and the Mediterranean, Northern Europe, Asia, Australia and the South Pacific, and other regions.
What you want from a cruise, and the kind of experience you’re looking for, is enough to begin. Interests, comfort, pace, budget, and travel style will do — a ship style or a region is welcome, and so is “I’m not sure yet.”
Which places the ship visits, how long you have in each, and whether the route is sea days or a new port every morning. I help you compare itineraries for the time you have and the places you actually want to see.
Ships differ in size and in the kind of day they make. A cabin is where you sleep, get ready, and step away when you want quiet. I help you think through what matters for your group — where the cabin sits, how many of you are sharing it, accessibility, and whether you want outdoor space or a simpler room.
Port time is short. Some days are worth a booked excursion. Some ports are easy to wander on your own. I help you decide which shore days to plan ahead, and which can stay open.
A night in the departure city, or a few days in a place you wish the ship had stayed longer, can change the holiday. I help you add a pre- or post-cruise stay when it makes the trip calmer, and skip it when the sailing already gives you what you want.
Tell me who you’re travelling with and what a good day looks like. If you already have a sailing in mind, we start there. If you don’t, I research itineraries, ships, and cabins, and we narrow them together. When you’re ready, I book the cruise and the pieces around it — flights, hotels, and transfers that belong with the sailing.
If a cruise isn’t the better fit, I’ll say so. A resort week or an independent trip might give you more of what you want. If Belize is one of the ports, the Belize City guide explains how a port day there actually works.
Cruise planning is part of personalized travel planning. I’m an independent Canadian travel advisor and travel agent affiliated with Trevello Travel Group (TICO #5003057). For the consultation, the research fee, and how booking works, see Celovia FAQs.
If you are packing rather than choosing the cruise, the trip checklist can include a cruise.
Cruise planning questions
Can you help if I don’t have a cruise picked out?
Yes. You can start with who you’re travelling with, how you like a day to feel, and the kind of places you’d like to see. From there I look at itineraries, ships, and cabins that fit. You don’t need a sailing chosen before we talk.
What if I already have a cruise in mind?
Bring it. I can help you look at the itinerary, the cabin, the shore days, and whether nights before or after would make the trip easier. If something about it doesn’t fit how you travel, I’ll say so.
Can you add nights before or after the cruise?
Yes, when those nights help — a calmer arrival, time in a city you don’t want to rush, or a few days ashore after you leave the ship. If the cruise already covers the trip you want, we leave the extra stays off.
Do you only plan cruises in certain regions?
Belize, the Caribbean, and Europe are specialties. Cruises can also take you somewhere new to explore — Alaska, the Mediterranean, Northern Europe, Asia, Australia and the South Pacific, and other regions — when I can research and book the sailing through my travel partners. I plan a cruise when I can do it well. If a sailing needs a specialist I am not, I’ll connect you with someone who is.
What kinds of cruises can you help me compare?
Ocean cruises, river cruises, small-ship and coastal cruises, expedition voyages, luxury ships, sailing and yacht cruises, family-friendly and adults-only sailings, themed cruises, and longer or world cruises — when I can research and book them through my travel partners. We start with the experience you want, then look at what is available.
How do I choose between a large ship, a river cruise, and a small-ship cruise?
It comes down to pace and atmosphere. A large ocean ship usually means more dining and entertainment. River cruises are smaller and often dock close to the towns along the route. Small-ship cruises suit a quieter ship and smaller ports. Tell me how you like a day to feel, and I’ll help you compare the options I can book.
Can you match a cruise to a budget and travel style?
Yes. Comfort, pace, budget, and whether you want a social ship or a quieter one all shape the shortlist. I look for sailings that fit those priorities among the itineraries my travel partners offer, and I’ll tell you when a wish and a budget don’t line up.
